I love an author who writes about drug use in this way, the good and the bad. Thizz, aka, Ecstasy has been around for a long, long time and author Nicole Loufas does a great job of describing the effects of ecstasy. Not just what it feels like to take it, but the ripple effects that it has on everyone around the user. This is NOT a cautionary tale of drug use and this is not a preachy book at all, instead it just gives the reader a glimpse into the mind of users. It shows the 'why' behind the usage. It was powerful, to say the least.Dani, the protagonist, has lost almost everything she knows and is forced to re-invent herself at a very critical age. She is a high school senior, which we all know is a pivotal time in most peoples lives. She isn't an adult yet, she doesn't know who she is or even who she wants to be. Enter Thizz, Nick and Matt. Dani is smitten with all three but she cannot have one without the other and it begs the question, are her feelings real for the boys or is it the effects of the drug?
Matt is the boy next door with a twist. His best friend, Nick is the rich kid who wants to be known as something other than the rich kid. The two of them together are a lethal combination and Dani is caught in between the two best friends. Its a complicated triangle where, depending on the moment, my loyalties to each boy would change! I almost felt like Dani, throughout the book and flipped between #teamnick or #teammatt. I felt like I was on the high with them and I felt the lows and withdrawals too. That is a credit to Nicole's writing because she was able to draw me in. Even if I wanted to slap Dani and tell her to pick one, I still felt everything that she was going through.
I am a huge fan of Nicole Loufas and her books, The Lunam Ceremony and The Lunam Deception: Book 2, The Lunam Series so it was no surprise that I fell in love with this series too. These books are raw, dealing with human emotion at its worst. I felt all of the feels and as a reader, isn't that what we want? This book is a great read for anyone who wants to understand the why behind drug use or has been touched by it in some way. There are also some other really heavy themes throughout the book but I won't spoil those. Be prepared for a roller coaster of emotions!

Although this is a young adult novel, it kept me interested and I found the story intriguing. I liked the development of the characters and the complexity of their struggles.
There were so many simple typos. Also, at least twice there were repeats in chapters?? Idk. Also, did she just magically get over her APPARENT drug addiction? How on earth did the IRS not seize the money smh.
Let me start by saying that I am not in the demographic that this book is written for, i am a 28 year old male. I bought this book as a gift for my wife because it looked like something she would be interested in and we are from San Francisco where part of the book takes place and was ground zero for the Thizz/Hyphy movement. She convinced me to read it after finishing and raving about it. I went in expecting a "Twilight" like plot and was pleasantly surprised when I got a thoroughly entertaining story. The first 3rd of the book is a little slow and contains a lot of material i expect females will enjoy. After the slow start the pace picked up significantly, went in a completely different direction than I was expecting and was not at all the sappy chick flick love story i was dreading.
WOW!! This book takes an unexpected turn. It definitely is not the "normal" story. I found it fantastic and was sad to see it end. I found out after finishing, there is going to be a second book. Ummmm....... heck yea please! This is my first read by this author and definitely not my last. I really fell in love with all the characters and their stories. Recommended on my list.
This Author has it all together in this story, love, romance, and death.
It shows peoples ways of grief. How would they survive. How would any one. This story will have you pissed off at one character, loving,hating, tearful, hugging each of the main character's. Its a must read for anyone. I loved the whole concept of this book. Give this Author 20🌟 if it would allow. The whole book leaves you crying, laughing, and punching the air. Loved this book..
Holy moly this book sucked me in from page one, this story is about overcoming tragedy, addiction, young love, first love, friendship & loss. Nick & Matt are best friends, have been forever, would do anything for each other. Dani is new to town, living with her Aunt, she's a loner, she's struggling to fit in but happy to fly under the radar.
I'm not going to go into the plot or anything coz u must read it & feel it for yourself, I will say there is no cheating or threesome! It's different to what i usually read...in a very, very good way! The plot is original & hits home. I highly recommended one clicking this book now!!!
For a first time author, Nicole Loufas hit this book right out of the park. In the era of 2006, Myspace, thizz, Mac Dre, and partying were the things to get into in the Bay Area. I should know, as that's exactly what I was doing that year. This book really hit home, and it was as if I was re-living my teenage years. I felt a real connection with Dani, a girl who was lost after suffering a terrible tragedy. Not knowing how to cope she became succumbed to the euphoria that coincides with thizz. After being a "loner," a girl that has become very introverted, is now thrust into the life of the popular crowd after Nick Marino catches her eye. His best friend Matt becomes her best friend and together they all delve into the partying ways that you fall into when your life is taken over by thizz. Their party days catch up to them, and after every twist and turn you are thrust into an even deeper story. I didn't want this book to end! This fabulous book is a new favorite, and I'll be recommending it to anyone that listens. Bring on book two, Nicole! I'm ready!
